Senior ACCI executives have told a parliamentary committee that the planned increase in the compulsory levy paid by employers from 9% of payroll to 12% is "unfair, unfunded and unsupported by most businesses large and small."

ACCI’s Chief Executive has commented that the ongoing leadership wrangle between Julia Gillard and Kevin Rudd could have a detrimental effect on business. In an Opinion Article in the “Herald Sun” Peter Anderson says business has no interest in the internal dealings of political parties, but it has a very keen interest in stable government that delivers good policy.
Waning Confidence
The ACCI Small Business Survey for February shows conditions edging lower. This is the eighth consecutive quarter that conditions have slipped. The survey, shows a further erosion of confidence levels with many businesses now 'hibernating'.
Fair Work Changes Needed
ACCI’s submission to the review of the Fair Work Act calls for a significant suite of changes. The submission says change is needed across 12 areas of the Act to support fairness, productivity and competitiveness.
