Education That Grows Employer & Employee Skills & Is Responsive To Industry Needs

Which is a key factor in lifting productivity, achieving a
strong economy & community well-being

The skills and entrepreneurship of business people, self-employed contractors and Australia's
employees is a vital source of enterprise productivity and a key indicator of a strong economy.

Without economic growth we are unable to provide the productive and fulfilling work and
career development necessary for the achievement of  a sense of personal well-being and
individual and community engagement which are important to a fair society.

ACCI's Employment,Education and Training Unit and the members of our national network
work with government, the education and training sector, business owners and operators and
trade unions to develop the skills base of Australian industry and support career development
and life-long learning.

The core work of the Employment, Education and Training Unit are:

  • Conducting research into current and future skills needs

  • Developing policies and programs to overcome skills shortages

  • Securing feedback from industry on what works in the education and training system and
    why

  • Helping industry and business associations to develop strong vocational education and
    school links

  • Implementing policies to increase workforce participation, especially among mature age
    and young workers

  • Examining the trends in employment and the wider labour force

  • Promoting self-employment and independent contracting as a productive form of
    labour force engagement

  • Advocating policies and programs to reduce unemployment and the disadvantage
    that it brings
