ACCI Stands For:
Safer Australian Workplaces
Creating safer workplaces & safer methods of working
where employers, employees & other parties accept their
mutual & collective responsibilities
Overarching objectives:
- Achieve improved workplace safety culture and performance
- Achieve a nationally consistent, effective and balanced Workplace
Health and Safety (WHS) regulatory regime
Policy objectives:
- Promote a culture of communication, mutual respect, co-operation and personal
responsibility to manage WHS
- Assist in the development of evidence based regulation and decision making on
WHS issues
- Influence government to implement a nationally consistent WHS legislation and
regulations
- Support the adoption of performance-based legislation in all jurisdictions
- Promote the implementation of uniform and practical Model WHS legislation
- Raise awareness amongst employers of the importance of improved workplace
safety in running and managing a business
- Increasing the capacity of employers to achieve improved Workplace Health
& Safety performance
- Implementation of ACCI’s policies by Safe Work Australia
- Circulate publications and general information to promote nationally
consistent WHS legislation
- Support effective education and training programs and general information programs in
WHS
- Maintain support for the overall objectives of the National OHS Strategy 2002-2012
- Promote practical and useable WHS information for small businesses
- Further develop and promote WHS goals for small businesses
ACCI's WHS Working Party
ACCI's WHS Working Party represents the interests of our National Member Network. This group of business organisations represents every industry sector in the Australian economy. ACCI's National Member Network has been involved in the various stages of reviewing the draft legislation and regulations.
ACCI's WHS Working Party provides an opportunity for you to share views and to have a say on the new WHS laws. You can provide feedback to the member of ACCI's National Member Network most relevant to your industry or you can submit comment directly to our WHS Review Bank.
