ICC Australia is the Australian arm of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) - the world
voice of business which champions the global economy as force for economic growth, job creation
and prosperity.
The ICC and ICC Australia serve business through promotion of trade, investment, open markets
and the free flow of capital. Both defend the private enterprise system and encourage self-regulation
and ethical behaviour by business. ICC Australia is one of the oldest ICC affiliates. The Australian
National Committee was established in 1927. ACCI is the exclusive Australian affiliate to the ICC
and we operate ICC Australia's Secretariat.

Australia Wins Small Business Prize At 7th World Chambers Congress
The New South Wales Business Chamber won the World Chambers Competition prize for Best Small Business Project at the recently concluded 7th World Chambers Congress in Mexico.
Part of ACCI's National Member Network, the NSW Business Chamber's Online Growth Program defeated innovative programs to support business from Chambers of Commerce around the world. Stephen Cartwright, the Chamber's CEO
(pictured second from right) accepted the prize.
The Online Growth Program small business get online, develop e-strategies and improve their web presence.
Online Growth offers practical 'how to' documents, online videos, seminars and coaching and is an Australian Government funded initiative under the Small Business Online Program.
ACCI's National Member Network was also represented at the Congress by Peter McMullin, Chair of ACCI's Employment, Education and Training Committee, an ACCI Board Member and President of the Victorian Employer's Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VECCI).
Peter addressed a panel session Far East To The Middle East which highlighted the reasons for the relative resilience economies in the Asia Pacific region displayed during the Global Financial Crisis and the set the scene for the trade and commercial opportunities increasing emerging such as in the services sector highlighted ACCI's Service Industries Blueprint, Services: The New Economic Paradigm.
Peter's remarks were supported by the recent endorsement of ACCI's Services Industries
Blueprint by the members of the Confederation of Asia Pacific Chambers of Commerce and
Industry (CACCI) at its 25th Conference held in Istanbul, Turkey which was also addressed
ACCI's Chief Executive Peter Anderson.

ACCI Supports The Commonwealth Business Forum
ACCI and our National Member Network, particularly the Chamber of Commerce and Industry
Western Australia (CCIWA), support the Commonwealth Business Forum being held over 25-27
October 2011 in Perth.
CCIWA are involved in organising the Business Forum, which will be opened by Prime Minister
Gillard is co-organised by the Commonwealth Business Council, the Australian Government, and
Western Australia Government in collaboration with the private sector, and is the premier business
event on the Commonwealth calendar. It will bring together more than 1,000 business and
government leaders to capitalise on business and investment opportunities in the 54 nations of the
Commonwealth and beyond.
International Arbitration In Australia
International Chamber of Commerce Australia (ICC Australia) and the Australian Chamber of
Commerce and Industry (ACCI) have launched a new series of International Arbitration events
to be held in August 2011.
The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Court of Arbitration is the world's
leading institution for resolving international commercial and business disputes.
Industry & Government Must Collaborate To Tackle
Extreme Price Instability In Agricultural Commodity Markets
The Business and Industry Advisory Council (BIAC) is the global gateway for private sector input
into the deliberations of the influential Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development
(OECD). ACCI is the voice of Australian business to BIAC.
BIAC has released a Paper to the OECD in advance of the first meeting of G20 Agriculture Ministers
on 22-23 June 2011 which says a co-ordinated international public-private effort is required to
address extreme price instability in food and other agricultural commodities.
BIAC & ACCI Celebrate The OECD's 50th Anniversary
As the gateway for private sector input into the influential Organisation for Economic
Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Business and Industry Advisory Committee
(BIAC) is an essential stakeholder in the work OECD's deliberations and work to champion
higher standards of quality and performance by Governments in their policy decisions.
As the voice of Australian business the Committee, ACCI and BIAC are celebrating the OECD's
50th Anniversary and have published the booklet below to help mark the occasion. The booklet
features testimonials from global business leaders including ACCI's former President Peter O'Brien
and ACCI's Chief Executive Peter Anderson. The booklet can be viewed online below.

ICC & ICC Australia Launch Updated
International Model Franchising Contract
Franchising accounts for billions of dollars in global yearly sales. The ICC has released
a revised and updated version of its Model International Franchising Contract produced
by the ICC's Commission on Commercial Law and Practice.
The ICC and ICC Australia Model Contract deals with international cross border direct
distribution franchise agreements and includes:
- Definitions
- Territorial Exclusivity
- Training of the Franchisee
- Operation of the business
- Fees
- Resolution of disputes
Global Internet Governance
The ICC and ICC Australia have reiterated their belief that international internet
policy issues are most effectively addressed with the involvement of all relevant
stakeholders and have highlighted positions held by the global business community.
The ICC and its Commission on E-Business, IT and Telecoms as well as its initiative
- Business Action To Support The Information Society, is actively contributing the
next Internet Governance Forum to be on 27-30 September 2011.
Memorandum of Understanding With Indonesia
The way for closer economic ties between Australia and Indonesia was further opened
up with the signing of a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) by the peak business
organisations of both countries - the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (Kadin) and the
Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) on 20 April 2011.
Present at the signing of the MOU were the Trade Ministers of Indonesia and Australia
Dr's Mari Elka Pangestu and Hon Craig Emerson (below).

Arab Australia Business Forum
ACCI's Chief Executive Peter Anderson addressed the inaugural Australia Arab Business
Forum held by the Australia Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AACCI).
Addressing the first session on day one of the Forum, he helped set the scene for the event
providing context and perspective on the strengths of the economies in the Arab world and
Australia. He was joined by Australia's Consul General & Senior Trade Commissioner in Dubai
Kym Hewett and Usamah M Al-Kurdi Member of Economic and Energy Affairs Committee,
Saudi Arabian Shoura Council (Parliament).
