Webinar | Employing people with disabilities – what you need to know
As part of The Great Australian Workplace series, tune into this month’s webinar exploring how you can improve the value of your business by having a diverse workforce.
This is a free webinar!
In association with Biz Better Together, an Australian Chamber Initiative, listen in on the discussion around working towards an environment that values employees from diverse backgrounds and experiences. In Australia, 2.1 million people of working age have a disability. For some, their disability does not impact greatly on every day life. For others, working with a disability can mean restricting their options in particular vocations.
For young job seekers it’s tough. Fifteen to 24-year-olds are 10 times more likely to experience discrimination due to their disability than those over 54. In more than half of those instances the employer is the source of that discrimination.
What do employers need to know? How can business owners ensure that they’re including people with disabilities in their diverse workplaces? As part of the newest Great Australian Workplace series, tune into this month’s webinar to hear from Ken Baker, chief executive, National Disability Services and Jessica May, founder of Enabled Employment on employing people with disabilities.
Dr Ken Baker, Chief Executive, National Disability Services
In his role at National Disability, the peak association for non-government disability service organisations, Dr Baker provides information, representation and policy advice. He has been a member of numerous committees advising government on disability policy matters, particularly employment. Dr Baker has worked in social policy and public affairs for 30 years and has personal experience as a carer. He campaigned for the introduction of the NDIS and is keen to see it implemented well across Australia.
