Resignation of Nigel Hadgkiss APM
Throughout his long and distinguished public service career, Nigel Hadgkiss APM has demonstrated his professional commitment to serving the Australian community. We would like to particularly acknowledge his leadership in tackling unlawful union conduct on building sites and working to break down a culture that has led to abuse, intimidation, lost work opportunities and unfairness in the industry.
As the Australian Building and Construction Commissioner, Nigel Hadgkiss has served in a most difficult but necessary role in working to restore law and order to Australia’s building and construction industry.
Every day, people suffer the impact of union misconduct on construction sites through higher prices being passed on, getting less value from their tax dollars being spent, and the bad example to others set by union officials thumbing their noses at the law.
It is important that the ABCC continues its role in standing up to the menacing behaviour by union officials that has unfortunately become commonplace on our nation’s construction sites. It is needed to ensure taxpayers are not slugged with the cost of union misconduct that slows down, and makes more expensive, the building of schools, hospitals and roads.
