Mentally Healthy Workplaces
Every business benefits from creating a mentally healthy workplace. The Australian Chamber is committed to a strong economy that fosters productive, resilient and profitable organisations. In work health and safety, we work to ensure that legislation and guidance takes a practicable approach. We strive for guides and tools to support businesses of all sizes.
One in five Australians experience a mental health issue in their lifetime, so tools to help businesses manage these issues are important.
Creating a mentally healthy workplace may be as simple as using the available resources on how to have a difficult conversation. It might involve supporting people at work or supporting those returning to work. The Australian Chamber and beyondblue have produced tools, resources, flexible action plans and case studies, including the Business in Mind package.
The Australian Chamber is also a founding member of the Mentally Healthy Workplace Alliance, a national approach by business, community and government. The Alliance provides an opportunity to share good mental health practices in workplaces for the benefit of the community. It supports Australian businesses large and small to create workplaces that are mentally healthy.
The Alliance's Heads Up campaign gives individuals and businesses free tools and resources to help them take action.
