Mentally Healthy Workplace Alliance
With 1 in 5 Australians experiencing mental health issues in their lifetime, businesses need tools to manage these issues.
The Australian Chamber is part of a long-standing collaboration with beyondblue, is a founding member of the Mentally Healthy Workplace Alliance and is a supporter of Heads Up, which provides tools and information on a business perspective on mental health issues.
Mentally healthy workplaces boost productivity, performance and staff retention. Managers, supervisors, friends, peers, colleagues – each of us can make a difference, so everyone has a role in building a mentally healthy workplace. Even very simple steps can make a difference.
The good news is that there are helpful resources.
Creating a mentally healthy workplace may be as simple as using the available resources on how to have a difficult conversation. It might be supporting people at work or supporting those returning to work. The Australian Chamber has worked with beyondblue to produce tools, flexible action plans and case studies, including the Business in Mind package.
The Australian Chamber is also a founding member of the Mentally Healthy Workplace Alliance, a national approach by business, community and government. The Alliance provides an opportunity to share good mental health practices in workplaces for the benefit of the community. It supports Australian businesses large and small to create workplaces that are mentally healthy.
